Speakers biography:

Zhen WEI, PhD, CFA
Executive Director and Head of China Research, MSCI

Mr. Wei is currently Executive Director and Head of China Research at MSCI. Zhen is responsible for a wide range of applied research initiatives on China as well as spearheading thought leadership on factor investing, global investing and systematic strategies. Prior to joining MSCI, Zhen Wei led the Asia Pacific team of the Global Cross Asset Systematic Research division at J.P. Morgan. Before this, Zhen was senior macro Strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and fixed income strategist at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Wei has extensive research experience in global macro, asset allocation, risk management, quantitative models and investment product design. His research has been published in various international journals.

Zhen Wei acquired his PhD in Statistics and Master Degree in Financial Mathematics from Stanford University. He lectured MBA courses at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prior to his graduate studies, Zhen obtained his Bachelor in Statistics and Computer Science at Peking University.

 

Frederick CHU
Head of ETFs, China Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited

Mr. Chu is the Head of ETFs at ChinaAMC (HK). He’s responsible for sales and marketing as well as strategic development of the firm’s passive investment business in Hong Kong and overseas. Frederick has over 16 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining ChinaAMC, Frederick held various front office positions with a number of global banks including HSBC, Credit Suisse, Societe Generale, as well as Lehman Brothers within the Prime/Custody Services area. Frederick holds a MBA degree from New York Institute of Technology, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.
